Week #4-5 Development Stage 2


Week 4-5

These two weeks are where the project took shape the most. Some of the things that we accomplished were core physics of the world, background art, character art, map development, play testing and more. Here are some of the processes we have collected to show for the game taking its shape.

Game Development:

"In week 4/5, I was mostly figuring out how to add bouncing to HANDMAN. The issue was that the player would still collide with a wall after a triggered bounce, because the player is still technically touching a collider. The solution was far easier than I'd like to admit... I simply added a buffer that disables bouncing for 2 frames. I calculate the direction of the bounce by getting the normal of the collision. Finally, the momentum value is halved, then is increased based on how many bounces HANDMAN has performed; if above the maximum, he will halt completely."
